Top 5 Best Electric Scooters for Kids Under 15 | 2017 Reviews
Many people picture little kids taking a trip around the block when they think of scooters. But that’s yesterday’s news. Today’s kids (and many adults) rely on electric scooters to get to school, get to work, and simply have a fantastic time seeing just what kind of speed and performance they can get out of their Razors. Yes, there are other manufacturers as well, but the brand name has become synonymous with electric scooters (think “Kleenex” and facial tissue or “Jello” and gelatin) and you’ll see several Razors on this list of the top 5 best electric scooters for kids under 15.
Why the age distinction? It’s because there are lots of scooters on the market which are designed for children who are ten years old or younger; some of them can hit decent speeds and are fun to ride, but they may not be “enough” for your teen or pre-teen who is closer to a driver’s license than her first tricycle or Hot Wheels. In these rankings we focus on electric scooters which have top speeds of more than 12 miles per hour, yet are still well-constructed and safe for the pre-motorcycle set to ride.
Determining the “right age” for any one of these scooters is a subjective matter. Some companies, like Razor, seem to overstate the recommended age for their products (most likely on the advice of their lawyers). We’ll give you our own view of what approximate age each product is best suited for, but you should use your best judgment while taking your child’s maturity, coordination and experience into consideration. To set your mind at ease, though, all of these scooters are perfectly safe for older kids as long as they are wearing the proper protective gear (helmets and pads) that they should be wearing on any scooter, skateboard or bike.

Razor E300 Electric Scooter
And naturally, we start with a Razor. This is the “flagship” model of the brand and you’re almost as likely to see an adult in a business suit riding an E300 to the office as you are to see a teenager zipping around the neighborhood on one – that is, of course, if you live in the type of neighborhood where grownups aren’t ashamed to be seen on scooters or Segways.
The E300 is Razor’s fastest model with a top speed of 15 miles per hour, and it has a large, strong all-steel frame and fork which will hold up for the long term while supporting a rider weighing as much as 220 pounds. There’s a large deck which can be used for two-footed riding, and the quiet, high-torque motor with chain-drive is powered by two 12-volt batteries that will last about 40 minutes per charge. (One caution: the batteries on Razors don’t last as long as we would like; it’s important to follow the user instructions in order to preserve their life, and you may still have to buy new ones every year.)
The ride on the Razor E300 is the best in the company’s line, thanks to its oversized 10-inch pneumatic tires that will let you ride without an issue on grass and wet pavement (unlike the E100 and E200 models). We’re not sure we’d call this a scooter that excels off-road, but it won’t bog down and die, either. There’s a twist-grip throttle and a rear brake controlled by a hand grip on the opposite side of the handlebars.
If you (or your child) prefer a scooter that has a seat attached to the deck, the Razor E300S is essentially the same scooter as the E300 except for a padded, removable seat and post. It can sometimes be found for an even lower price than the standard model.
Razor describes this electric scooter as appropriate for those who are at least 13 years old; we’d say that most pre-teens would be able to handle it without an issue but that it’s too much of a machine for those under 10 or 11. If you’re unsure, the lower-numbered models max out at lower speeds, for lower prices. The E300 costs around $250 and is available in a number of colors.
There’s one more thing you should know before ordering; some Razor E300 scooters are now shipping with smaller tires so be sure to double-check, if the 10-inch tires are an important feature to you.

UberScoot 1000W Electric Scooter
OK, this one isn’t for tooling around the neighborhood or leisurely scooting to work or school. The UberScoot is a serious machine with some serious power. It’s manufactured by the company that used to be known as Evo Powerboards, which has been making revolutionary personal transport vehicles (PTVs) for two decades. This scooter isn’t their highest-level model (they have a 1200W scooter as well as two-speed gas-powered ones), but it’s one of their best and is great for serious riders whether they’re 12 or 42 years old. (Evo recommends this scooter for ages 12 and up).
Let’s start with the power: three 12-volt, 1000-watt rechargeable batteries let the UberScoot hit a top speed of 25 miles per hour (but as with the E300, you may find yourself changing out the batteries every year). There’s also an economy mode button that allows you to conserve battery life but limits you to 15 miles per hour, and a turbo button for an extra push when you hit a hill. In most cases you’ll be able to go about ten miles before needing to recharge. The charging time is also much shorter than with competitors, taking 4-8 hours instead of the usual 12+ hours. There’s oomph as well as speed; you’ll find it much easier to take big hills with the UberScoot than with a Razor.
There’s a lot more to like about this electric scooter, including the front and rear 10-inch pneumatic street tires which provide a smooth ride and can handle almost anything you throw at them, front and rear disc brakes, and a steel frame which will stand up to heavy use and riders weighing as much as 265 pounds. One negative, though, is that the connections on the front of the wide deck aren’t hidden, so it’s relatively easy to kick them loose or break them by accident – a design flaw we assume that UberScoot will correct.
This scooter has a removable seat, a front headlight, and a feature which may be very much appreciated by adults: it folds up, although not easily. However, all of the convenience, as well as the speed, power and extra goodies, will cost you. The UberScoot runs around $500, twice as much as the Razor E300. It’s a fantastic ride, though, and we think most 13-15 year old would love it. But if you think this is a little too much ride for your teen, there are lower-priced, slower models also available.

Super Turbo 1000-Elite Electric Scooter
The Super Turbo is very similar to the UberScoot in terms of performance (25 mph maximum speed, extra-wide tires, front and rear disc brakes, removable seat, turbo and economy modes, not to mention solid construction) and price. It also has several features you won’t find on the UberScoot, key among them a front swinger mono shock and dual rear shocks plus a keyed ignition. The manufacturer claims you can get up to 18 miles on a single battery charge, although we think you’ll find that it’s closer to 12-15 miles.
The company also offers a number of cool add-on kits, including a power kit for hills, mirrors, brake lights and a battery upgrade, and the scooter is available in three colors. Then why do we rank it below the UberScoot? Honestly, it’s because there’s been some confusion about this scooter with other manufacturers claiming to be selling it, leading to lawsuits and the like. When you buy the UberScoot, you know exactly what you’re getting and who you’re getting it from. With the Super Turbo, you have to be really, really careful. We felt that concern was enough to put this at #3 on our list of top 5 best electric scooters for kids under 15, rather than at #2.
Since this electric scooter is so similar to the Uber, our same observations about appropriate ages apply: most 13-15 year olds would be thrilled to death with this machine.

URB-E Black Label Electric Folding Scooter
This scooter weighs just 35 pounds, has a top speed of 15 miles per hour and a range of 20 miles, folds up into an incredibly small footprint, is made from top-quality carbon fiber and aircraft-grade aluminum, has an extremely comfortable seat and even will charge your tablet on the go. We can hear you wondering why this isn’t our top-ranked electric scooter – and the simple reason is that we also consider prices. The URB-E Black Label comes in at a cool $1700, making it a wonderful scooter for kids with very rich parents (and also for the very rich parents themselves), but putting it out of the range of most families.
The wonders of the URB-E (produced by a start-up in California and designed by a former lead engineer at Porsche) go on and on: a sports-tuned throttle for powerful acceleration, a cross-drilled disc brake, never-flat rubber tires, a four-hour battery charge, and personal screw-by-screw inspection by the production manager before the scooter is delivered. This isn’t the fastest product on our list, but it’s the smoothest-riding and most finely-constructed electric scooter you’ll ever find.
With outstanding stability, terrific brakes and a top speed of 15 mph, this would be the ideal scooter for your teen or pre-teen. At its price, however, we’re guessing anyone who could afford picking one up for their kid would rather keep it for themselves, and we wouldn’t blame them one bit.

Razor Pocket Mod Euro Electric Scooter
We didn’t feel it would be right to compile this list of the best electric scooters for kids without including a Euro-style powered scooter, which resembles a tiny motorcycle more than a traditional scooter – but is viewed in many parts of the world, particularly Italy, as a “real” scooter.
Razor’s Pocket mods come in a number of colors and styles in order to satisfy the demands of different age ranges and sexes, but they’re all basically the same. They’ll reach a maximum speed of 15 miles per hour, they have 12-inch pneumatic tires with rear suspension, they’re well-constructed with a steel frame and a high-torque chain-driven motor, and feature a twist-grip throttle with a hand-operated rear brake. Most notably, they also have a banana-style seat with under-seat storage, as well as a decent amount of deck space for a kid to stand if she prefers.
There are a couple of things you should know about the Pocket Mod: it’s designed for girls more than for boys, and it’s rather small since it’s a “scaled-down” model. The maximum speed would make it seem that this is a suitable scooter for 13-15 year olds (and Razor rates it at age 12+) but you’ll find that kids under 12 are most likely to fit comfortably on these models. Their build and stability mean that the extra speed isn’t an issue, though – and the style of a Euro-style electric scooter will make your child the envy of the neighborhood.

It's fundamental to understand the limit between the unpalatable domain Hoverboard and its mishandling collaborators. A standard Electric bike beguiled judgment of an offensive district hoverboard is that is must have massive tires, and that they ought to be inflatable.
ReplyDeleteA Hoverboards Black Friday Sale is a two-wheeled contraption which uses inside spinners to see the customer's degrees of a move to move in a particular course. You should on a monstrously central level lean toward the way you wanna go and the electric motors handle and take you there.
