Top 5 Best Fixed Wheel Jogger Stroller | 2018 Reviews

Top 5 Best Fixed Wheel Jogger Stroller |2018 Reviews

Many people think that having a baby means giving up jogging or running. Luckily, there are products that allow you to continue your physical activities shortly after giving birth. For active parents, the fixed wheel stroller jogger is just such a product.

When considering fixed wheel jogger strollers, let us first look at the two types of strollers in this category. Firstly, we have stroller that comes with a rigidly attached front wheel that is usually as large as its back wheels. These fixed wheel jogger strollers offer the best stability at high speeds but are harder to maneuver around tight corners. Fixed front wheel strollers need to be tipped onto its rear wheels while keeping its front wheel in the air, to make tight turn.

All Terrain Strollers

The second type is the all terrain stroller that has a front wheel that swivels, but that can be fixed by a swivel lock into straight position. The front wheel on these types of strollers is usually a bit smaller than its rear wheels. All-terrain strollers, are less stable at high speeds, but more stable for maneuvering at low speeds around rough terrain. The stability on rough terrain comes from the fact that the swivelling front wheel allows you to keep all 3 wheels of the stroller on the ground in tight turns.

If you are serious about maintaining an active lifestyle after giving birth, then a jogging stroller is exactly what you're looking for. With so many models available in the market, it was hard work to sift through them all, but we here at ParentsNeed HQ have taken the time to narrowed them down to a list of Top 5 Best Fixed Wheel Strollers for you.

BOB 2016 Ironman Stroller

BOB 2016 Ironman Stroller

If you want nothing but the best in jogging strollers, the BOB Ironman stroller should be on the top of your list.

What makes this stroller such a good choice? For starters, it is made of  lightweight  aluminum alloy, which makes it strong but light and therefore super easy to handle and maneuver.

Next, the BOB Ironman comes with 16-inch air filled wheels and fixed front wheel. The large wheels smoothes out small bumps in the road, and the air filled wheels add additional damping. In addition, this product has an adjustable tracking knob to adjust the recline and 3-inch shock absorbers for its suspension system. As for safety, you can rest assured that your baby stays safe thanks to a padded 5-point harness and a padded reclining seat. A hand controlled front wheel brake and safety wrist straps ensure maximum control even when you're going downhill.

For convenience, this stroller has an adjustable handlebar with 9 different settings to cater for parents with large height differences. Also, there is a foot controlled rear wheel parking brake to prevent inadvertent runaway strollers.

Perhaps the only disadvantage to the BOB jogging stroller is its price tag – it is definitely one of the most expensive jogging strollers. However, you do get what you pay for, and in our opinion, a whole lot more, so it will be worth every penny.

Despite the hefty price tag, we are placing this one right at the top of our list.

Thule Urban Glide Sport Stroller

Thule Urban Glide Sport Stroller

If you are looking for yet another option when it comes to high-performance sports strollers, the Thule Urban Glide is your next best choice. This stroller also makes use of a lightweight aluminum design and is more than 5lbs / 2 kg lighter than the BOB jogging stroller. If you are looking for a lighter option, this product should be high on your list.

One eye popping specification is that the Thule Urban Glide Sports Stroller can carry up to 75lbs / 34kg! Which makes it suitable even for heavier or older kids. Yes, you can even take your third grader in a stroller out for a run... if you're so inclined!

This awesome sporty stroller comes with 18-inch rear wheels and a 16-inch fixed front wheel. The front wheel also comes with a tracking adjustment and the rear wheels come with a powerful suspension system to ensure a smooth ride for your child, no matter how fast you run. For convenience, this product also has a multi-position handlebar, perfect for parents of all heights. It also has a nearly flat recline to allow your child to drift off to a great afternoon nap while you run.  An easy one-handed fold system allows you to easily pack and unpack the stroller even when you go out alone with your little one.

One other noteworthy feature is the huge canopy that helps block out the sun. It stays deployed even if you make it roll through endless miles of dirt trails. The canopy also has many windows so you can check on your passenger as you run. For safety, the padded seating ensures that your little one stays safe and comfortable whether they're sitting or even sleeping inside, no matter how long you run for. For convenience, it comes with lots of side pockets and ample storage space so you can bring everything that your child needs during your run. The higher price tag was the one downside for this jogger stroller  so therefore the Thule Urban Glide Sport Stroller come in at second position.

Mountain Buggy Terrain Jogging Stroller

Mountain Buggy Terrain Jogging Stroller

The Mountain Buggy Terrain stroller, as its name suggests, is an all-terrain stroller that can be used for running. The versatile front wheel can used in three different ways: swivel, locked backwards or locked forwards.

There are many reasons why parents love the Mountain Buggy Terrain despite its hefty, premium price tag. For starters, it can be used with many different accessories to accommodate to your growing child’s needs. You can use an infant car seat, a carry cot or the regular seat for your baby. If you feel like the storage basket underneath the seat is not enough for your needs (we highly doubt that), you can also attach the duffel bag accessory, which comes with a changing mat and bag clips.

In terms of safety, security, and comfort, this product does not disappoint. For your little passenger, it comes with a 5-point harness and padded seats for extra comfort and protection. A quick release harness allows you to push one button and release all straps of the harness. There are also two controls for the brakes: A flip-flop friendly foot brake near one of the rear wheels and a hand brake located on the handlebar.

The Mountain Buggy Terrain package comes with two wheel sets so you can use the 16-inch rear wheels for all-terrain surfaces or install the 12-inch rear tires for urban environments. It takes seconds to remove and install the two different wheels which makes them perfect for living in the city or getting out into nature.

Sadly, its price tag is a bit on the high side which is why we are placing this one in the middle of our list.

Kolcraft Sprint Pro Jogging Stroller

Kolcraft Sprint Pro Jogging Stroller

The best jogging strollers, often come with the heftiest price tags. But, pursuing an active lifestyle while caring for your child does not have to cost you an arm and a leg!

The Kolcraft is about the same weight as the BOB Ironman stroller so it is quite lightweight as far as jogging strollers go. However, there is a huge price difference between the two (almost $200!!!). Kolcraft claims that their strollers can perform nearly as well as the strollers belonging to a higher price range. Parents wanting an active lifestyle certainly do not have to break the bank to get a jogger stroller.

Like the previous jogger strollers, the Kolcraft comes with adjustable handlebars  so it is great for tall parents or parents with height differences. The Kolcraft also comes with 16-inch air-filled tires installed onto an aluminum frame which enables the stroller to glide smoothly as you run or jog. Its frame is not as sturdy as the previously review models which probably explains the price difference. The rated weight range for your child is up to 45lbs / 20kg.

Storage-wise, the Kolcraft has has a huge basket underneath (probably the biggest) as well as trays and cupholders for both parent and child. A foot operated parking brake and a hand brake offer control and convenience, especially if you have your hands full.

We are a huge fan of the Kolcraft’s price tag but we felt that its design is much bulkier than the rest and so the Kolcraft Sprint Pro Jogging Stroller comes in at fourth position.

Schwinn Arrow Single Stroller

Schwinn Arrow Single Stroller

We all know Schwinn to be a leader when it comes to bikes so were not surprised to see them produce a jogging stroller. Their product did not disappointed.

For starters, the Schwinn Arrow Single Stroller delivers great quality for the price; this stroller is considered a mid-range jogger strollers and is at least $100 cheaper than the top-end stroller joggers on the market. Like its competitors in this review, the Schwinn stroller comes with adjustable handlebars. For safety, a handbrake is installed on the handle, giving you good speed control, especially when going downhill.

Assembly of the Schwinn Arrow stroller is quite easy and can be easily handled by even the most non technically inclined person. The frame design is durable and sturdy and will  ensures a safe ride for your precious passenger even at if you go jogging or running at high speeds. The 16-inch wheels provide a smooth ride over small bumps in the road and should easily handle non paved roads. There is also a sun canopy and flip-out visor that protect your child from UV rays and will allow your child to drift off into afternoon naps easily even on the sunniest of days.

The biggest drawback of the Schwinn Arrow Single Stroller is its size. It can be very bulky to bring around. This stroller will not fit into small cars without disassembly. For the above reasons, the Schwinn Arrow Single Stroller rounds out the Top 5 Best Fixed Wheel Jogging Stroller in fifth place.

Top 5 Best Fixed Wheel Jogger Stroller | 2018 Reviews

Many people think that having a baby means giving up on a few of their favorite things to do, such as going out for a quick run or jog, but it actually isn’t – at least, not until the baby reaches a certain age. For active parents, the invention of a stroller jogger is a heaven sent.

But, before you get all confused, let us differentiate the jogging stroller from an all-terrain stroller. Simply put, the former comes with a fixed front wheel that is as large as its back wheels. On the other hand, an all-terrain stroller has a front wheel that swivels (although a locking position is available) and is usually a bit smaller than its rear wheels.

A jogger stroller is best for parents who are serious about running or jogging because it is designed to add more stability. Unfortunately, the payoff is that it is harder to navigate especially when going around tight corners. To do this without going off balance, you will have to lightly tip up the stroller in order to make the turn. Meanwhile, all-terrain strollers, although not best for serious jogging or running, are great as they offer better maneuverability even in the toughest and roughest terrains.

Now, if you are seriously considering getting jogger strollers and would like to incorporate an active lifestyle in the family early on, then this is your best option. With so many models available in the market, we have come up with a list of the best jogging strollers for you to choose from.

BOB 2016 Ironman Stroller

If you want nothing but the best in jogging strollers, this BOB Ironman stroller should be high on your list. There are many reasons why we love this particular jogging stroller frame and just one look at it should be enough to convince you to get it for your family.

What makes this stroller such a good choice? For starters, it is made from very lightweight material – aluminum alloy – which makes it super easy to handle and maneuver. Sure, it will get a little heavier once your kid gets strapped in but isn't it better if you have a jogging stroller chassis that does not add-in to the weight? Say goodbye to the feeling of driving a huge tank over wet cement.

With its 16-inch pressure wheels and fixed front wheel, there is no doubt that this is truly the best jogging stroller available on the market. This product even has an adjustable tracking knob, 3-inch shock absorbers, and a suspension system. As for the passenger inside, you can be assured that your baby stays safe with so many features including a padded 5-point harness and a padded reclining seat. Even better is that it has a foot rear parking brake, a hand front wheel brake, and even safety wrist straps to make sure that parents have maximum control over the stroller , especially when you are going downhill.

Another reason why you might get this particular product is because this is a jogging stroller with adjustable handlebars. You can adjust it to nine different positions so it is perfect even for parents with a huge height difference.

Perhaps the only disadvantage to this BOB jogging stroller is its price tag – it is definitely among the most expensive of its kind. However, you do get what you pay for, plus a whole lot more, so it will be worth every penny you spend on it.

Despite the hefty price tag, we are placing this one right at the top spot on our list.

Thule Urban Glide Sport Stroller

If you are looking for yet another option when it comes to high-performance sports strollers, the Thule Urban Glide is your next best choice. This stroller also makes use of a lightweight design and is more than 5 pounds lighter than the BOB jogging stroller. If you are one looking for an even lighter option, this product should be high on your list.

What else do we love about the Thule jogging stroller? Another major deciding factor for getting this product over the one that BOB offers is that it can carry even more weight – up to 75 pounds at that! You can totally use this on a much older kid; yes, that includes a grade schooler if you want.

This awesome sporty stroller comes with a great design and has 18-inch rear wheels and a 16-inch fixed front wheel. The front wheel also comes with a tracking adjustment and the rear wheels come with a powerful suspension system to ensure that everyone goes through a smooth ride no matter how fast you run. Another reason why many parents love this product is that it has a multi-position handlebar perfect for all heights, a nearly flat recline to ensure that kiddos have a great time as they ride, and an easy one-handed fold so you can easily pack and unpack the stroller even when you go out alone with your little one.

Other noteworthy features include a huge canopy that helps block out most of the sun from your kid. It also holds up really well even if you make it roll through endless miles of dirt trails. Plus, the padded seating ensures that your little one stays safe and comfortable inside and will have no problem sitting or even sleeping inside, no matter how long you go for a run. It also has many windows so you can easily see under the canopy even as you run. And, most importantly, it comes with lots of side pockets and ample storage so you can bring everything that you need during a run. The higher price tag was a turn off for us so we had to place this in the second position.

Mountain Buggy Terrain Jogging Stroller

By definition, this Mountain Buggy Terrain stroller does not really belong to the fixed wheel jogging stroller but should instead be called an all-terrain stroller. Why so? Well, mostly because its front wheel can be position in three different ways: swivel, lock backwards or lock forwards. Despite that, we think that this stroller has a lot of potential which is why we have included it in our list.

What is there to love about this item? There are many reasons why parents love getting this despite its hefty, premium price tag. For starters, it can be used with many different accessories to accommodate to your growing child’s needs. You can use an infant car seat, a carry cot or the regular seat for your baby. If you feel like the storage basket underneath the seat is not enough for your needs (we highly doubt that), you can also add in a duffel bag to your list, which comes with a changing mat and bag clips, by the way.

In terms of safety, security, and comfort, this product does not disappoint – you can read its many jogging stroller reviews and be amazed. For your little passenger, it comes with a 5-point harness and padded seats for extra comfort and protection. It does not even require a lot of fuss as you can just push one button and remove the harness one clip at a time. Parents are also provided with two options for brakes: one is a flip-flop friendly foot brake near one of the rear wheels and another is a hand brake located on the handlebar.

There are still so many things to love about the Mountain Buggy Terrain stroller. Another thing we like about it is that you can go from active to urban in just a matter of seconds. The package comes with two wheel sets so you can go on active mode (16-inch rear wheels for all-terrain surfaces) or urban mode (12-inch rear tires for urban environments). They are perfect for city-dwelling families who love to go out for a quick run or jog on dirt trails during the weekends.

Sadly, it comes with such an expensive price tag that it might not be the most practical buy for most parents. Still, we love the product so we are placing this one in the middle of our list.

Kolcraft Sprint Pro Jogging Stroller

The best jogging strollers, at least according to our list, often come with the heftiest price tags. But, just because you want to pursue an active lifestyle seriously and would like to bring your kids along does not mean that it will have to cost you an arm and a leg.

The Kolcraft is about the same weight as the BOB Ironman stroller so it is still quite lightweight as far as jogging strollers go. Although the price tag difference is huge (almost $200!!!), there is still guarantee that the Kolcraft can perform nearly as well, if not equally, to the strollers belonging to the higher price range. Parents living an active lifestyle certainly do not have to break the bank just to be able to bring their kids along during their favorite pastime.

What do we love about this product? Well, it is yet another jogging stroller with adjustable handlebar so it is great for use for tall parents or even couples with height differences. You can easily adjust its Smart Handle to customize and fit your stride. Another reason why we love this stroller is that it comes with 16-inch air-filled rear tires installed in an aerodynamic aluminum frame which enables the stroller to glide smoothly as you run or jog, even if there is a passenger inside. Speaking of passengers, this particular product can handle up to 45 pounds of chunky baby (or older kid) weight.

Another thing we love about this jogging stroller is that it comes with a lot of storage so you do not ever have to worry about running out of space. It has a huge basket underneath as well as parent and child trays with cup holders. You can also pack the stroller very easily and let it remain standing – very helpful if you currently have your hands full.

While we are a huge fan of the Kolcraft’s price tag, we felt that its design is much bulkier than the usual so we will have to place this in the fourth position.

Schwinn Arrow Single Stroller

We all know Schwinn to be a leader when it comes to bikes so were not surprised to see them enter the jogging stroller industry – and we weren’t disappointed, at least at some point. Before you say anything bad about the Schwinn jogging stroller, let us first point out the great things about this product like we always do.

For starters, this item delivers great quality for the amount you pay for it; this one belongs to the mid-range jogger strollers and is at least $100 cheaper than the best of the best in the market. Parents love that this stroller comes with adjustable handlebars so it is great to use even for the tall people. For added comfort and security, the handle comes installed with a handbrake so you can have full control, especially when going downhill.

Another reason why we still consider the Schwinn Pro as one of the best jog strollers is because it is quite easy to assemble and does not give a lot of headaches even to a non-handy person. It also comes with a durable and sturdy frame and ensures that passenger inside stays safe and secure no matter how fast you go jogging or running. The 16-inch fixed front wheel will certainly provide a sense of security in knowing that your kid won't be flying towards the other direction should you run over a rock. And, since you will be going outside a lot, the sun canopy and flip-out visor are certainly great additional features that we love about this product.

The biggest disappointment we have for the Schwinn is that it can be very bulky to bring around. When you place in a 50-pound kiddo inside (the max it could carry), it certainly feels like driving a tank over wet cement. It is not recommended to use it up to the maximum carrying weight as it can be very heavy to bring around. Additionally, if you have a small car, it might be a pain to keep assembling and disassembling the stroller every time you take it in and out of the car. We will have to place this one at the bottom of our list.

Conclusion

Whether you are looking for a double jogging stroller for infant and toddler or one that can just fit one child perfectly and comfortably, there is always one that fits your lifestyle and preferences as a family perfectly. Do not be afraid to check out the pros and cons of each product to see if it will be a great match not just for your kid but also for your active lifestyle.

If you have a bit more budget to spare, you can opt to buy separate strollers for everyday use and for running and/or jogging. However, if you do not have a lot of budget to work around, you can also choose to buy the best jogging stroller travel system that will allow you to go on casual walks, runs, jogs and even quick out-of-town trips with your kiddo.
